Fresh water sourced, silica-rich food grade powder also known as fossil shell flour, diatomite and kieselgur. It is a naturally-occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine powder. This fine powder is made up of the fossilised microscopic skeletal remains of hard shelled plant-like algae called diatoms.
Health Leads Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is ‘food grade’ for internal use. Not all ‘food grade’ DE is the same. The shape of the diatoms is very important; they should be tubular with holes in the centre on the walls.
DE should also be from a fresh water source as this forms a harder and sharper shell compared to a salt water source DE. Other ‘food grade’ DE may contain higher amounts of sediment and clay, making the fossil shell flour a grey/brown colour. Health Leads food grade DE has been analysed and we are satisfied that that it is the best form of fresh water DE available.
However, you need to be very careful NOT to inhale diatomaceous earth. Doing so will irritate your lungs much like the inhalation of dust.
Food grade Diatomaceous Earth is a great source of silica. Take 1 level scoop per day, mixed with a full glass of water. Diatomaceous Earth will not dissolve, stir well to prevent settling. It is best taken in the morning. Keep hydrated. Do not exceed daily dose. Free 5ml scoop included.
